SFVA Coronary Care Unit (CCU)
The SFVAMC CCU is part of an 18 bed ICU with cardiac, medical and surgical patients.
A cardiologist, a UCSF cardiology fellow and the Critical Care Attending make daily rounds on all CCU patients and any patient in the ICU (MICU and SICU) with active cardiovascular issues. Patients with severe unstable angina, STEMI, unstable arrhythmia, heart block, congestive heart failure and hypotension are admitted to this unit. Intraaortic Balloon Pump (IABP) and Impella hemodynamic support devices are available for patients with hypotension and severely reduced ventricular function. SFVAMC is a tertiary care center for complex cardiac interventions, electrophysiology studies and cardiac surgery for VA hospitals in Northern California and Nevada and relies on our excellent CCU care.
